India’s GDP revisions

Pramit Bhattacharya of MINT has a very good piece on how India’s GDP calculations went awry. It had to do with estimating the private corporate sector output. Read the full piece here. It is well written. In simple language and readers are able to follow the story nicely. Very good stuff.

I was reminded of the piece that the former FM wrote in ‘Indian Express’ as soon as the GDP revisions came out, upping GDP growth rates in UPA years. He said that the government might fire the Chief Statistician for showing faster GDP growth in UPA years. Wonder what he has to say now.
